  1. Administrative Appeals Board

    The Administrative Appeals Board was established by Charter Amendment on September 20, 2005.

  2. Bicycle Advisory Commission

    The Bicycle Advisory Commission administers and manages the long-term implementation of the 2008 Cumberland Trails and Bikeways Master Plan.

  3. Downtown Development Commission

    The Downtown Development Commission is composed of 13 members with 3-year terms.

  4. Economic Development Commission

    The Economic Development Commission is an 11 member commission charged with encouraging and facilitating economic development in the City of Cumberland.

  5. Historic Preservation Commission

    Historic Preservation Commission is an 8-member commission, including 1 City Council member.

  6. Housing Authority

    The Cumberland Housing Authority Board of Commissioners consists of 5 members whose powers and duties shall be those powers, duties and responsibilities defined by Article 44-A of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, 1939 edition.

  7. Human Relations Commission

    The Human Relations Commission is responsible for the elimination of discrimination in all areas of community life.

  8. Municipal Planning & Zoning Commission

    This commission is responsible for recommending to the Mayor and City Council changes to the Zoning Code, Subdivision Code, and Comprehensive Plan.

  9. Neighborhood Advisory Commission

    The Neighborhood Advisory Commission was established by Ordinance No. 3470 on November 18, 2003 and revised by Ordinance No. 3737 approved March 26, 2013.

  10. Parks & Recreation Board

    The mission of the Parks and Recreation Board is to foster planning for recreational activities in the city and to continuously review municipal, county, state, and federal cooperation in the field of recreation for the purpose of seeking a greater degree of coordination in the development of recreational activities.

  11. Shade Tree Commission

    The Shade Tree Commission is a 9-member commission created to advocate sound urban management practices, to preserve and enhance the beauty of Cumberland, and to study the problems and determine the needs of the city with regard to tree planing and maintenance programs.

  12. Zoning Board of Appeals

    The power and duties of the Zoning Board of Appeals are authorized per Chapter 25, Section 7 of the City Zoning Ordinance.
