Washington St. Improvements - Greene St. to Allegany St.


 

Sealed proposals addressed to the Mayor and City Council will be received at the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, Cumberland, Maryland 21501-1702, until but not after 2:00 p.m., local time, Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Proposals will be publicly opened and read at 2:30 p.m. on that date in the Council Chambers at City Hall. All proposals must be submitted in duplicate in a sealed envelope, plainly marked on the outside thereof, "WASHINGTON STREET IMPROVEMENTS – GREENE STREET TO ALLEGANY STREET - CITY PROJECT  09-09-M
The work generally consists of, but is not limited to, installation of a new water main, replacement and renewal of existing water service laterals, installation of water meters, grading, removal of existing concrete, removal of existing paving and roadway section, paving, concrete curbing, concrete flatwork, modification of drainage structures, installation of water mains, surface restoration, brick roadway replacement and signage replacement. Contractor will also be required to work with the local utility companies to schedule and coordinate replacement of an existing gas main.
A Performance Bond and Payment Bond in the full amount of the accepted bid will be required of the successful bidder. A Bond or Certified Check in the amount of 5% of the total bid shall be submitted with each bid.
Interested bidders can obtain a digital copy of the bid documents in PDF format from the office of the Engineer, SPECS, Inc., at 105 S. Centre Street, Cumberland, Maryland, 21502 ((301) 777-2510) upon payment of $25.00 for each set. The payment is non-refundable. Any requests for information (RFI) for the explanation or clarification of any point not sufficiently covered by existing documents must be submitted by email (pdepalatis@allconet.org ) or by fax to Paul De Palatis at (301) 759-6608. The requested information, as well as any addenda that develop during the bidding process, shall be sent via email to all bidders who requested and procured the initial bid documents. No RFIs will be accepted after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2010
A Pre-Bid Meeting will be held at 9:00 a. m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 in the Engineering Division Conference Room, room 343, located on the third floor of the Public Safety Building at 20 Bedford Street, Cumberland Maryland 21502. 
The Mayor and City Council reserves the right to waive any technicalities and to reject any or all bids, and to accept any or all proposals which in their judgment is to the best interest of the City.
