[ARCHIVED] Downtown Water Valve Replacements to Start May 9, 2016

The City of Cumberland would like to notify the public that it's contractor Carl Belt, Inc will be making multiple water line repairs This work will begin on Monday May 9, 2016 at 5:00am. The property owners in the area will be notified of this water outage. Low to minimal pressure will be experienced for a period of time on Monday May 9, 2016 with a temporary water outage. Low water pressure will be experience for Monday May 9 and Tuesday May 10 with water restored May 11. The properties in the immediate effected area will be notified individually. The City is doing everything possible to minimize the water outage areas and duration of the outages.

To allow for these repairs to be made a traffic control plan will be in effect. Vehicular traffic is being asked to following the set detour route for the area. S. Mechanic Street will be closed from Howard Street to Harrison Street and from Pershing Street to Frederick Street. Harrison Street will be reduced width but will allow for two way traffic from Mechanic Street to Liberty Street. Also Baltimore Street will be closed from Greene Street to Mechanic Street including Canal Street. All alleys in the areas will also be closed for the duration of the repairs.
