The City Administrator, as an official of the City of Cumberland, has made application to the Mayor and City Council for a Zoning Text Amendment (ZTA #16-01) to the City of Cumberland Zoning Ordinance in accordance with Section 15.02 of the Cumberland Zoning Ordinance, also known as Ordinance #3775, and the Land Use Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
The purpose of the proposed amendment to the Lighting standards in Section 6.08 (5) (b) of the Zoning Ordinance will be to change the lighting intensity standard that applies to prohibited residential uses in the city’s primary business zones (B-L, B-H, B-CBD, B-C, and I-G) from 0.4 foot-candles to 1.0 foot-candles.
The Municipal Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Cumberland will meet and hold a public hearing on this proposed Zoning Text Amendment on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 4:30 PM in the Mayor and City Council Chambers at City Hall, 57 North Liberty Street, 2nd Floor, Cumberland, Maryland. The Planning Commission will hear public comment, discuss, and make a formal recommendation to the Mayor and City Council regarding this amendment request. Interested persons should plan to attend this hearing.
A copy of the proposed Zoning Text Amendment and the associated staff report are on file and available for public view at the City of Cumberland Department of Community Development during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM). The Department is located in the lower level of City Hall at 57 North Liberty Street, Cumberland, Maryland.
