The City of Cumberland has available a Residential Accessibility Improvement Program, which is designed to help residential owner-occupied structures within the Sustainable Communities Designated Area of Cumberland, Maryland. This state funded program will allow elderly and disabled homeowners, meeting certain income guidelines, to seek funding for up to $5,000 to improve accessibility into and within their homes. Eligible expenses will include new ramps, chairlifts, bathroom alterations (including walk in showers), and audible/visual fire alarm systems.
